Boilerplate Legal Forms
Standard legal forms are available from many sources that cover a vast array of legal situation, such as:
Last Will and Testament
Durable Power of Attorney
Living Trusts
Living Wills
Bills of Sale
and many others
Since Probate law varies so much from state to state, it is important that you use a form that is approved for use in your home state. In cases of a simple estate without minor children and a lot of assets, the standard forms may be all that you really need, but, in any event, it is usually a good idea to have them reviewed by a compentent attorney. MOst attorneys see the use of standard forms as a time saving advantage. They would much rather be using their time to advise you on legal matters than wordsmithing a document. (Most attorneys use standard form word processor documents and customize them as per your specific needs.)
Getting a standard form is relatively inexpensive and, if nothing else, will force you to be exposed to the many questions to bne answered when you meet the attorney. This way, your time spent with the attorney will be more concise and effective.
